Now for the rest of the story...

There are, from time to time, four, six or eight agents at Sea Cottage Real Estate. At the moment, there are seven... if I'm counting right. We like it that way... a small office and more of a team atmosphere and relationship. But more on that later.

Each member of the Sea Cottage staff takes pride in the professionalism of our agency and the amount of solid experience we bring to our jobs of representing people in the increasingly complex field of real estate. At Sea Cottage, Job Number 2 is getting the offer... Job 1 is taking care of all of the interests of the client. We advise and carefully guide the buyer (or seller) through all the many steps leading to a successful close of escrow. The process of finding just the right property, making the offer and negotiating the purchase contract, then proceeding through escrow requires constant attention to detail, each one of the steps of tremendous concern to the client. Our concerns are your interests, your satisfaction.

But we are more than job-oriented; we are - each one of us - intimately involved in community and civic affairs. Each one of us is an Officer or Director on the Board of at least one prominent organization here on the Mendocino Coast. As members of the coastal community, we're giving something back.

You met members of our team earlier on; now take a closer look at them:

CAROL ANN WALTON - Carol Ann has been a REALTOR on the Mendocino Coast since 1984, and has been active in all phases of real estate on the Coast, all of that time with Sea Cottage Real Estate. She knows her job well and has extensive personal experience in real estate, having been involved in the construction of 4 major houses as well as 3 large apartment complexes. Carol Ann has been and remains on the Board of Directors for the local Association of Realtors, was on the Board of Directors - for 11 years, since its inception - of the Mendocino Music Festival. She is also on the Board of the Mendocino Christian Camp, on the Board of Mendocino Soroptimist International, and serves on projects for the Kelley House Museum and the Study Club. Additionally, Carol Ann serves as a Chaplain for the Mendocino Coast District Hospital. Email contact: cwalton@seacottage.com.

ART LOVE, Broker Associate - After more than 25 years as an engineer and personnel manager and, with experience in budget development with one of the Fortune Five Hundred Corporations, Art relocated to the Mendocino Coast, changing careers to become a REALTOR. It was a natural evolution into real estate sales for Art; for about 15 years Art had owned several apartment complexes and a commercial investment property. With his years of experience as a REALTOR - since 1985 - and now as an Associate Broker, he has developed a reputation as a professional with integrity, knowledge and the skills to work through the most complex real estate transactions. Art is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), the first to receive this designation on the Mendocino Coast, (only 2 percent of REALTORS nationally have earned that right). He has been active with the local Association of Realtors as a past Director and as past Chairman of the Multiple Listing Service. In community affairs, Art is a Board member of the Economic Development and Financial Corporation for Mendocino County. Email contact: artlove@seacottage.com. You can see his website here.

RON EICH, Broker Associate - Ron spent 32 years with IBM where he served as a systems engineer, consultant, advanced development manager, product manager, laboratory director at five IBM locations, and an independent business unit general manager. He and his teams introduced countless product successes and provided service for many major corporations and small businesses. Retiring from IBM, Ron spent several years as Exec. VP and Chief Information Officer at Mutual of Omaha, where he earned his FLMI and other insurance designations. Ron then returned to the Mendocino coast where he had been coming since he was a small child. He and his wife, Joan, along with their three children, had frequently returned to visit the Coast. Determined to return permanently, the Eichs bought ocean view property just north of Mendocino in 1989; they built their dream home in 1997. After moving to Mendocino, Ron commuted to Sonoma where for three years he provided leadership as VP and CIO for Nelson Human Resource Solutions. Ron's formal education includes a B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of California, plus management training at Stanford, U. of Michigan, and IBM Advanced Management Schools. Ron works long hours as a REALTOR® providing client service. In addition to his real estate brokers license, he has HCD license experience for new manufactured homes in "The Woods" retirement village. In his spare time he gardens, reads, and travels. Ron is a past president of Rotary and serves on the Professional Standard Chair of the local Real Estate Association, where he is a past MLS Chair, Treasurer, and President. He is an active U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliarist, having served as Flotilla Commander and other offices. He is on the board of the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers where he helped to restore the Fresnel lens and the Light Station and still serves as a Docent and Treasurer. Ron also is the Chair on the Board of the Mendocino Coast Clinics, Secretary of the Mendocino Coast Habitat for Humanity Board, and works as an active volunteer with numerous other community groups. Email contact: roneich@seacottage.com

TED TANNER, Broker Associate - TED TANNER, Broker Associate - Ted is an enthusiastic, hard-working REALTOR® who acts with competency, fairness and integrity to ensure his clients' confidence and trust. He is a self-avowed "real estate junkie" who spends much of his free time devouring the latest real estate books and attending real estate seminars. He is the President of the Board of the local Coastal Mendocino Association of REALTORS® and is the Past-Chairman of the Multiple Listing Service. Prior to becoming involved in real estate and joining the team at Sea Cottage, Ted worked for several years at the St. Helena Elementary School and most recently at the Fort Bragg Middle School where he earned the reputation for being an outstanding classroom teacher. In addition to his regular classroom duties, he was involved in numerous extra-curricular activities, such as serving as the coordinator for the Rural Murals Project, an after school program for at-risk youth. Currently he serves as Vice-President of Education of the local Toastmasters club and as a mentor in The Partnership Scholars program, an organization which provides mentoring and educational and cultural enrichment to needy and bright young students in low income, minority communities of California to help turn their dreams of a college education into reality. Ted's formal education includes a Bachelor of Science from Art Center College of Design (Europe) in Vevey, Switzerland, Japanese language studies at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan and a teaching credential from California State University Chico. In addition, he is an avid inventor, cyclist, kayaker, and traveler. As a REALTOR® and Broker Associate, Ted has the necessary dedication and professionalism to take care of all his real estate clients' needs. Email contact: ttanner@seacottage.com. You can see his website here.

SUE ZAHNISER - Sue joined the team at Sea Cottage Real Estate just a few years ago. She and her husband, Jack (a retired neurosurgeon), moved to the Mendocino Coast in 2001 and have spent a great deal of time remodeling their home and developing the lovely, landscaped gardens surrounding it. In addition, Sue has devoted spare time to several community organizations – the Cancer Resource Center, the Mendocino Botanical Gardens, the Mendocino Music Festival, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Symphony of the Redwoods. Sue was born and raised in Salt Lake City. Following graduation from the University of Utah (and a BA degree in Finance), she moved to Minneapolis to take a position with the international commodities company, Cargill, where she worked as a – get this! - Cargill Seed Corn Territory Manager. (Seed corn? No, not a typo – but experience that will undoubtedly do her well in real estate!) From that career start, Sue later traded commodities on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange floor, then went on to another career change to sales and marketing positions in the travel and meetings-resort industries with Benchmark Resorts and Conference Centers, then with Snowbird Resort after moving back to Salt Lake City. After a 3-day visit to Mendocino, Sue & her husband made the big decision to move here… and no regrets. Email contact: suezahniser@seacottage.com

GREG MORGAN - Greg is our newest agent in the Sea Cottage Real Estate office, having joined us in January 2008. A true northern-Californian, Greg was born in Ukiah, but, when he was just two years old, convinced his parents to move to the Fort Bragg area. He’s been here ever since. After graduating from Fort Bragg’s high school in 1994, Greg went to work at Safeway in a variety of jobs ranging from order writer to night supervisor to manager of a department. Not wanting to leave the Coastal area, Greg attended the College of the Redwoods at the Fort Bragg campus taking classes in business and language (Spanish). He pays attention to detail, puts in long hours, and is energetic, as evidenced by the honor of becoming an Eagle Scout through the Explorer Program of the Fort Bragg Police Department. As an agent, his thorough knowledge of the Coastal area will be an asset to both Buyers and Sellers as will his acquired skills in customer service. We welcome Greg to our Sea Cottage “team”. Email contact: gmorgan@seacottage.com

JIM HAY, Broker - Jim has been in real estate since moving to the Mendocino Coast in 1987 and is the owner/broker of Sea Cottage Real Estate. Sea Cottage operates from its new, beautiful offices in the heart of Mendocino at the corner of Lansing & Ukiah Streets, the "happening" part of town. The agency has been kept deliberately small, employing only the most qualified professional real estate agents and associates. In a previous life, Jim worked in the entertainment industry, first in theatre in New York and National Tours, then in television and film. For a number of years, Jim was an executive with ABC Television in New York, Los Angeles and London and then, later, was an independent producer in Los Angeles and was a consultant with BBC Television for its coverage of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. He has been on the Board of Directors for the Mendocino Art Center, Leadership Mendocino, the Mendocino Music Festival (past President), was active in organizing the Mendocino County Film Commission office, was the President of the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce for three years, was one of the organizers (and on the Board of Directors) of the Mendocino County Promotional Alliance, and was the President of the Redwood Empire Association, a tourism-promotional organization for nine counties of northern California, recently served on the Board of Directors for the Mendocino Coast District Hospital where he chaired the Planning Committee for the hospital... and currently is a member of the Board of Governors of the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation.
